This updater is only for use on only US English copies of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition downloaded from Microsoft's web site before February 06, 1999. If you are using an localized version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition, please download the updater for your language.
DO NOT RUN THIS UPDATER IF YOU HAVE A JAPANESE LOCALIZED VERSION OF MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 4.5 MACINTOSH EDITION ON YOUR MACHINE! It may replace Japanese components of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition with US English versions if you do.
This updater does the following:
1) Updates the QuickTime plug-in contained inside the Internet Explorer 4.5 Plug-ins folder from version 1.1.1 to 2.0.1 on machines with QuickTime 3 installed. (Note: Mac OS 8.5 has QuickTime 3 installed.)
2) Sets Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition to use the QuickTime plug-in to view all files that the plug-in is capable of viewing.
To run this updater:
1) Double click the updater's icon. The updater will automatically find copies of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition that need to be updated.
2) When the updater is finished, launch your copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition.
This updater will create a new version of the drag and drop installer on your machine containing the correct files. The next time you launch Internet Explorer, the installer will run and update all of the files necessary.
If you have no other applications open when launching Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition after you run this update, you will not have to restart your machine.

Troubleshooting
If you receive an error message that states "An error occurred that prevented the installation from completing. File not found: Microsoft Internet First Run" it means that you do not have a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition on your machine, or your copy does not need to be updated.
If you have more that one copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition on your machine, the 2.0.1 plug-in will appear in the plug-ins folder of the copy that you launch after running the updater. You can copy this plug-in to any other plug-ins folder.
To see what version of the QuickTime Plug-in is active after running the installer:
1) Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 Macintosh Edition.
2) Under the Apple Menu, in the upper left hand corner of the screen, choose "About Internet Explorer...".
3) In the dialog box that appears click on the button labeled "Support".
4) Scroll through the list below the heading "Loaded Plug-ins" to see the list of currently installed plug-ins. The version number of the plug-in is in parentheses.
